The word,
on cue.
Brand identity for Bible Song Pro — the live production console for scripture and song.
Four competitors. One sentence. That is the opening.
Every direct comparable is selling the same mechanic in almost the same words. When four companies claim one sentence, the sentence stops selling — and the field they left empty is the one Bible Song Pro already occupies.
White SaaS pages, 16–24px rounded cards, stock worship photography, three pricing tiers. Dressed for a boardroom.
OBS, vMix, Resolve, an ATEM panel. Dark, dense, instrumented. Nobody in the category is dressed for it.
Don't compete on detection. Enter one category above: the console the whole service is run from.
Built inside the stream, not beside it.
For the church media team running a real broadcast, Bible Song Pro is the only worship presentation software born inside the streaming stack — OBS, vMix, NDI — where every verse and lyric is cued, previewed and taken to air like any other source on the desk. Detection is one instrument on that console, not the product.
Cue, preview and take scripture, lyrics and media to air from one desk.
Nothing reaches the screen that the operator has not seen first.
The service moves and no one thinks about the software.
The word deserves the same production standard as the music.
Four commitments everything else is measured against.
Broadcast-native
Preview/Program. NDI out. Lower thirds. OBS and vMix as first-class targets, not exports. The only one in the category that can say it — with a public repo dated to prove it.
Operator-first
Dark, dense, keyboard-driven, no surprises under pressure. Designed for someone also watching a camera feed, a chat and a clock. Every control does what its label says and nothing else.
Reverent
The software's ambition is to disappear. Scripture is quoted, never paraphrased. No effect exists to prove an effect exists.
Open at the root
The OBS/vMix plugin stays free and open under GPL-3.0. Permanently. It is where the trust was earned and it never goes behind a paywall to feed the desktop app.
Six rectangles. Sound becoming scripture.
Three waveform bars resolve into three lines of set text. Read left to right, it is a diagram of the product in the fewest marks that still say it. The centre line — the live verse — is the only element carrying Signal Orange.
Fixed on a 32-unit grid. Ends are square, not rounded — the rounded waveform is the most-drawn logo of the decade; ours is cut, not blown. The 2-unit gutter between the utterance group and the scripture group equals the gutter between bars, so the mark reads as one object, not two.
Clear space on all sides = 11u. Never rotate, stretch, outline, gradient-fill, or add a container other than the app-icon squircle. Never animate the mark on a live output surface.
The six-element mark does not survive at icon sizes: at 16px each 2.5-unit bar lands on well under a pixel and the whole thing collapses into a blob. Below 48px use the four-element cut — two utterance bars, two scripture lines, thicker strokes, at 72% of the container instead of 62.5%, glow dropped. Same discipline Apple and Adobe apply to their own icons: the gesture survives, the detail goes.
macOS expects artwork to fill 824 of a 1024 canvas; full-bleed sits visibly larger than native apps in the Dock. Windows and Linux want full-bleed. Four source files, not one. The squircle is a superellipse (n = 5) — never an rx/ry rounded rectangle.
Inter 600, tracking −0.02em, sentence case. Monochrome, always — no coloured word, no coloured "Pro". The mark carries the orange; the wordmark never does. Clear space = cap-height of the B. Minimum width 96px.
Geist Mono 400, 0.14em tracking, uppercase, never above 13px. For title bars, video outros, footers and badges. Below 96px lockup width, the mark stands alone.
Warm blacks, one orange, and a reason for it.
Signal Orange is inherited from the shipping app — it is already on real machines. The brand work is systematising it, not repainting it. It reads as a tally lamp rather than cold tech, and it is the one hue the entire competitive set left on the table. Neutrals are warm-shifted toward the accent, so the orange sits inside the palette instead of on top of it.
| Pair | Ratio | Verdict | Rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| #FFFFFF on #111010 | 18.4:1 | AAA | Primary text on dark. |
| #FF5500 on #111010 | 5.9:1 | AA | Signal on dark — approved for text. |
| #A8A2A0 on #111010 | 7.9:1 | AA | Secondary text on dark. |
| #FF5500 on #F4F2EF | 2.8:1 | FAIL | Never. Swap for Signal Deep. |
| #B23E00 on #F4F2EF | 5.2:1 | AA | Signal on paper — the only legal form. |
BSP is dark-first. Paper exists for print, documentation and invoices — never as a default surface. Try the Paper view toggle in the rail to see the whole system swap.
If it's orange, it's on screen.
The accent is not decoration — it is a state. Signal doubles as Program, which makes the brand colour and the most important fact in the room the same thing. One sentence teaches an operator the entire interface, and it works as a headline too.
On screen. Live to the room and the stream.
Cued and safe to edit.
Cleared, black, standby.
Source dropped. No signal, no audio.
Remote or networked device attached.
Consequence, and it is a hard one: Signal is never used decoratively on a surface that also shows live state. Colour must never lie about what is on air.
Three roles. Voice, interface, signal.
The same discipline as the personal brand, without borrowing a single face. Scripture is set in a reading serif — the way scripture is actually set — rather than the display serifs the category reaches for.

Nothing exceeds 6px. Hardware doesn't round.
The category is built on 12–24px rounded cards. Instruments are not. Default radius is 4px; the ceiling is 6px; there are exactly two exemptions — the app icon squircle and the tally dot, which is round because it is a lamp. This single constraint does more differentiating work than any illustration.
Soft, friendly, indistinguishable from every other worship SaaS.
Cut, precise, reads as an instrument. Same content, different category.
Shoot the booth, not the congregation
The signature inversion: the operator is in focus; the congregation is the bokeh behind them. Monitors, patch cables, a fader wall, tally glow on a face, hands on a keyboard in the dark. Warm, high-contrast, practical light only. One framing rule states the whole position — and it is exactly what Johnson already shoots.
Never
Stock worship photography. Lens flares. Dove, beam or light-ray graphics. AI-brain motifs. Gradient mesh backgrounds. 3D glass shapes. Illustrated characters. Floating perspective mockups on a gradient — product shots go in real rooms, at an angle, screens legible.
Nothing overshoots. Ever.
Broadcast motion has one rule software forgets: a lower third that bounces looks amateur on air. So nothing in this brand bounces. The signature move is the Cue Wipe — content enters behind a hard-edged Signal bar that sweeps and clears. It is the Verse Mark's live line, moving.
House curve cubic-bezier(0.16, 1, 0.30, 1); symmetrical moves use cubic-bezier(0.65, 0, 0.35, 1). The mark animates once — utterance bars settle, scripture lines set — and never loops. Everything honours reduced-motion.
Say the number. Use the operator's verb.
Say the number
"312 ms from utterance to on-air." Never "lightning fast." Numbers are the vocabulary of people who run live events, and they cannot be faked.
Lead with the operator's verb
Cue, preview, take, clear, arm, route, hold. These are the words spoken in a real gallery. Using them correctly signals we have stood in one.
Reverent about the message, plain about the machine
Scripture is quoted with book, chapter, verse and translation — never trimmed to fit a headline. The software is described flatly. The registers never blend.
Never say magic
No "AI-powered" headline. No seamless, effortless, revolutionary, game-changing, empower. No exclamation marks. Errors state the fault and the fix: No audio on Input 2. Select a device in Settings / Audio.

An endorsed brand. Credited to Johnson, never absorbed into him.
L_ FOR OBS & VMIX — free · open · GPL-3.0 · forever
L_ STUDIO — the desktop console · macOS · Windows · Linux
free · open · GPL-3.0 · no tiers
The free plugin is the front door, never "Lite". There is no edition ladder — both products ship free under GPL-3.0. The desktop console is the master brand with a superscript Studio: Signal face, uppercase, monochrome, never coloured. The plugin keeps the plain wordmark. Recommendation: keep "Max" internal; publicly the app is simply Bible Song Pro.
Johnson's Signal Amber #D98A3D and BSP's Signal Orange #FF5500 never appear in the same composition. Fraunces never enters a BSP surface; Source Serif 4 never enters a Johnson surface. The endorsement lockup is monochrome and lives in the footer and About page only.
The relationship is structural, not cosmetic — both systems run voice / interface / signal as their three type roles. Siblings, not twins.
The fastest ways to break this system.
Leading with AI detection. Four competitors own that sentence; joining them makes BSP the fourth-best version of someone else's pitch.
Putting Signal Orange next to Johnson's Signal Amber, in any composition.
Colouring a word in the wordmark — including "Pro".
Exceeding 6px radius outside the two exemptions.
Using Signal decoratively on a surface that shows live state.
Inventing testimonials, church names or download counts. Cite the live repo, never memory.
Shipping the light palette as a default surface.
One Voice line per surface. Cut copy before adding a second.
One accent per composition. The mark carries the orange.
Scripture quoted with book, chapter, verse and translation.
The OBS plugin free, open and prominently linked. It is the proof.
Numbers over adjectives, everywhere.
The mark small and quiet. The product is the loud thing.
Preview green, Program orange — in the app, the site, and the film.
Raster icon exports (.icns / .ico / .png) from the master SVG; the wordmark converted to outlines for print; a stacked two-line lockup; social avatar and OG templates; the Cue Wipe as a shipped motion template for Premiere and After Effects. All of these follow mechanically from the system above — none of them change it.
